Using Layout & SketchUp for Garden Design

Last year we ran a number of garden and landscape design customer case studies and followed these up by attending two exhibitions, BBC Gardener's World Live and Landscape 2022 both held at the NEC in Birmingham. 

SketchUp is hugely popular with garden and landscape designers for obvious reasons.The team demonstrated to garden and landscape designers, garden design students and other creative professionals with an interest in this area just how easy it was to implement SketchUp in their design and planning process.

Using SketchUp Pro for garden design can offer a unique level of precision and detail all through an intuitive user interface that enables designers to easily add elements such as paths, plants, trees, shrubs, decks, walls, and more. 

To kick off a series of follow ups with last year's case studies, we caught up with Solihull based Carly Tong Garden Design. BBC Gardener's World Live 2022 saw Carly chosen to exhibit a show border sponsored by SketchUp UK. Titled 'Express Yourself' this wild life border was beautifully illustrated in SketchUp and even more impressive in situ.

SketchUp continues to play a big part of Carly's design output evident in these LayOut plans that provide a landscaper with everything they need to build the garden. Carly told us, "I still provide hand drawn illustrations to show the client the end result for the garden." 

Since the exhibition, Carly has been busier than ever. Offering remote services working with client's providing dimensions and site details. and diversifying her offerings with garden design and planting plan packages, opens up nationwide opportunities, something that excites Carly and will aid in the growth of her business.
