SketchUp in the community

SketchUp is hands-down the most intuitive, powerful, easy-to-learn 3D drawing tool available today.  We love showing people what can be achieved with SketchUp. The creative possibilities really are endless, you only have to look at the number of Skill Builders available to see how powerful it is. So when the guys at SketchUp UK asked if we’d be interested in the opportunity to work with grassroots sports organisation the Russell Martin Academy (RMA) on a holiday activity design competition, we jumped at the chance!  The RMA is for 5-19 year olds and provides exciting and fun opportunities for young people of all abilities to maximise their enjoyment and potential in football through a range of challenges and activities. The competition involved holiday activity attendees designing a football stadium using materials of their choosing. There were more than 60 entries from which one lucky winner was chosen.

Matt Lindner, Sport and Recreational Activities Officer for the RMA  said, “We were delighted to join forces with Cadsoft Solutions Limited and SketchUp UK to create opportunities for our holiday activities programme. The overall winner was Massi McHugh whose excellent winning design was made with Lego, which was then modelled in SketchUp Pro by Cadsoft Solutions Limited and uploaded to the 3D Warehouse.”

Nicholas Johnson, Managing Director of Cadsoft Solutions Limited enjoyed working on the winning design, “The winner clearly put a lot of thought into it. Bringing the design to life in SketchUp was a lot of fun! And now that Massi has his own copy of SketchUp Pro, we hope he enjoys drawing and modelling even more ambitious designs!”

Carola Ferraro, parent of the competition winner told us, “my son’s passions are football and lego and that’s why Massi decided to build a lego stadium and enter it. Then it was announced he was the winner and his design would be turned into a 3D model by Cadsoft Solutions Ltd. If that wasn’t enough he also received an amazing one year membership for the SketchUp Pro programme, which gives him the opportunity to stretch his creativity even further.
